Retreat Progress
We've been at retreat a couple of days now and I'm slowly but surely getting things done. I finished one top that I will show in the coming months and I'm working steadily on my Bali Wedding Star.

Retreat Recap
Sorry for the delay in this post. I swear time is flying by at warp speed and I'm already packing for the next show. I just got home, but this should be the last travel plans for awhile.
These are some of the projects I finished while at retreat. What I will show you here are the projects I can show now, the others will have to wait. This first one was a side project from a few of the Moda Candy Bars. This box contained three or four lines (I think, it's been awhile) and I just added some white on white paisleys that I had in my stash for this simple pattern. It's a decent size and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with this one.
If three wasn't enough, a fourth Aura should do the trick. This quilt is completely scrappy and reversed in color. I used a mixture of shirtings for the blocks and various Civil War red-ish prints for the background. I'm thinking I may try to hand quilt this one, but we'll see. (See the other versions of Aura by clicking here)
This last quilt is a more primitive version of Roll of Stamps, also from my book, Seamingly Scrappy. I used a jelly roll of Harvest Moon by Kansas Troubles and some of the new Primitive Muslins for the sashing. I know it's kinda weird, but I have this cowboy print in my stash that will work great for the backing. My Mom got it when I got my horse, and we never got around to making anything out of it. It'll be a fun little surprise on the back.
Now I did finish these three tops as well as two other tops and their coordinating backings and bindings while at retreat. Now, I did have some of the blocks premade before I left. No tops were together, but I had an amazing time and still was able to work on my Bali Wedding Star too! I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting closer!
Now, it's the last time I have to say bye to this little guy and his chickens (which he waits to play with until I get home!), but if you're in the area, come see Mom and I at our booth at the NQA Show in Columbus this weekend. I'll take pictures and try to post when I can!

Sounds good to me!
So, did you listen to the American Patchwork & Quilting Radio show yesterday? If you did, great and thank you sooooo much! If not, here's the link you can go to http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/radio/index.html, I'm the first segment of the 1/28/13 show.
I have to thank Pat Sloan again for this opportunity. It was so nice to chat with her. I just stayed home yesterday and did some sewing of my own which let me finish the rest of the rings for my Bali Wedding Star!
So the opposite of these rings are now complete. Once again, I think this project is going to get stashed away for just a bit to work on other projects for upcoming shows and some new patterns!
Back with more quilting updates soon!

Back from Retreat!
I'll post more about retreat later, but for a quick note I had a blast! I don't think I've ever quilted so much in such a small time and got so much accomplished.
I went with many projects, but here's how I made out:
* I finished two new Alphabet Stitchery quilt tops
* I put the borders on another massive quilt which will be a new pattern in the near future
* I started a charity quilt
* AND I got half of the rings done for my Bali Wedding Star!
I'm going to take a small break from this project so I can focus on other quilts and projects that need to be completed for upcoming shows and more Machine Quilting I need to do. Considering how fast this part of the quilt went, I should have no problems completing the Unit B (the other half of the rings) and then it's the melons and completing the blocks. It's going a lot faster than I imagined it would.
Back soon with more quilting and retreat updates!

Retreat Ready (kinda)
So, I'm packing up all sorts of projects to get ready for my first ever Quilting Retreat!!! Yippee!
I've been a cutting fool over here trying to get everything prepared so all I really need to focus on is the actual sewing part. I've cut pieces for some Project Linus quilts as side projects, a Yellow Brick Road, other odds and ends I need to finish and most importantly - the pieces for my Bali Wedding Star.
One night Mom had the Quilt Shop open late for a Shop Hop so I went in to keep her company... Little did I know it led to picking out all 88 pieces needed for the strips for the rings of this quilt. I was pretty sore the next morning, but I'm so happy how they turned out:
There are 88 completely different fabrics above, no repeats. It was so much fun!
These are the background fabrics I chose
And these fabrics will be the stars and cornerstones of the rings. I hope to get a bunch done while I'm gone and this is the main focus, but I have several other projects so I can split up my time and not get too burnt out on just one project.
Roughly 3 days and 3 nights of pure quilting, I can't wait. I believe the group going is around 24 people and we should have all sorts of fun. I will be sure to take tons of pictures and report back when I return. In the meantime I have some machine quilting posts for you and an awesome recipe.
Later!
