Quilting: Blueberry Crumb Cake!!!

First things first, thank you all for the comments and e-mail about my little sewing space. It took my a LOT of thinking and some good ol' testing to get everything in order. But I promised a few of you I would mention about the memory board.

I had a picture handed down to me that wasn't in great condition, but I LOVED the frame, so I scrapped the picture (more like put it out of it's misery) and replaced it with the memory board that I found on the Moda Bake Shop. You can get to it by clicking here. I also suggest if you don't have a frame you want to use, look at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. Sometimes they have paintings with not so great artwork but a fabulous frame for around $10, not bad for a large frame. Oh, and I made mine bigger than the recipe called for. I think it's about 24 x 18 or so.

So, we got some Blueberry Crumb Cake at the shop and I could see the gears turning in Mom's head. She had this idea to do a small quilt. So she made a few blocks, but what if she made a few more? But then it wouldn't be big enough to put on her bed AND this is the perfect shade of blue she's wanted to paint her bedroom for awhile.... So this little sample quilt turned into a massive 97" square monster.

But isn't it gorgeous???

I started quilting it on Tuesday and just couldn't finish it, so I had to go back Wednesday after work and finish up the last little bit. I LOVE this one.

I liked it before. I may have even loved it. But now that it's quilted, it's even more gorgeous!!!

This is Mom's entry to the Lake Metropark Farmpark Quilts 2012 Show this year.

I was so happy to quilt it, but nervous that it was going into a judged quilt show and it was huge... (this is the biggest quilt I've done to date), but once I got in the groove (and had the music on) it was magic.

Speaking of which I have to go put the sleeve on my quilt I'm entering and run some other errands... Be back with another tutorial soon - a 3 part tutorial. This one's gonna be good!!!

  2. I really like the frame idea, I think I may try it. You and your mom make a great team, the quilt is beautiful. I like the colors, design, and the quilting. Good luck at the show.
