I finally did it!

I turned in my two weeks notice at my full time construction dispatcher job!

Yippee! Hooray!

Now I feel like I can finally focus on my quilts and the long arm quilting and the blog for goodness sakes! I feel like I've been neglecting it all for far too long now.

After my chest pains flared up twice in just over a month, that was the first red flag. My first day back to work after the second episode was absolutely horrendous, that's when I said enough.

I determined if I'm going to torture myself working as many hours as I have, it's going to be for my business, not for someone else. I have too many things I could be doing and I've put them off that I need to shift my focus to what is best for me for once. And gosh darnit, it feels wonderful! So officially in 1 hour and 58 minutes, my last full time day here will be done!

I plan on taking off a couple weeks to catch up on new patterns, tutorials  and long-arming and then after that I will still be helping at the construction office part-time until my position has been filled.

But most of all, for those couple weeks I'm looking forward to setting my own schedule and not having to get up while it's still dark outside! Hooray to that!

So, stay tuned for all sorts of wonderful things happening here in the near future!

  1. Woo Hoo! Congrats!

(I too would love to quit my job, but until my husband can bring home the whole hog (and not just a bacon slice or two) I'll be stuck working every tax season for the next 30 years!)

  2. Good for you! No job is worth risking your health! Are you still going to help at the shop? I need to get down there and get some backings:)

  3. I think you did the right thing. You are absolutely right when you said you need to start looking out for yourself. You will not regret your decision in the least. Congratulations and take a deep breath. You've earned it!

  5. Congratulations! You have made a very wise decision. Let the quilting be uninterupted!! You will be happier and healthier, but, you already know that. Hopefully, you will also be at the shop more often......hint-hint. When I am able to come home to visit (I'm in Florida now), you know one of the first places I'm going is to Cottonpickers! Sandy G.

  7. Congratulations! I also had to retire early from teaching due to health issues from the stress. I've been back to sewing this year and loving it! How wonderful you have a fabric shop to work part time in :-)!
